What Is The Aeroseal Duct Sealing Process and Why Is It So Different From Traditional Duct Sealing?
The process is as follows:
- The duct system is pressurized and a ductwork leakage assessment is completed and recorded.
- A dry vinyl acetate polymer fog is injected into
ductwork . The particles adhere only to the edges of the leaks and accumulate until the perforation is closed. - The leakage test is repeated and a certified report and graph is produced for the client. We show you the reduction of leakage by square inches and air volume.
How Aeroseal Effectively Seals Leaky Air Ducts
Aerosealing an air duct works by following the natual path of airflow through your system and finding crack to thoroughly seal any leak within your system. When the sealant goes through the crack, it sits on the edge of the opening, building up until the gap is sealed from the inside. Let’s look at our full Aeroseal treatment process:
- Prep: A technician will first seal all vents on your system with a foam, close off access toe your HVAC to keep the sealant out of it, and create an alternative inflow for air and Aeroseal.
- Pretest: From there, the next step is to connect the Aeroseal machine to your ducts by a flat tubing and conduct a pretest. This lets us detect leakage based on the airflow during the test.
- Sealing: Once everything is prepped and identified, next is to inject small aerosol particles into your system. These will go through your system until they find a leak, where they will adhere and create a seal.
- Review: After all is said and done, the last step is to review the work so we can identify any significant leaks which weren’t sealed before and work to correct problems.
